Sightsavers has raised $105 million to help eliminate trachoma. This funding infusion was announced in December 2018 at the Global Citizen concert by Richard Branson, amid performances by Beyoncé, Jay Z and Ed Sheeran.
When Sightsavers and its partners started working in Ghana in 2000, about 2.8 million people in the country were at risk of contracting trachoma. But on June 13, 2018,the World Health Organization announced: Ghana has eliminated trachoma.
Project Echo
Project ECHO, which stands for Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes, is now a national organization with hubs throughout the country. It allows healthcare professionals to regularly consult with specialists at larger institutions over video, and those specialists also get to learn from reviewing the cases in rural areas
